Short Par 4 Fall Classic Kicks Off Monday with Sold-Out Field
The Short Par 4 Fall Classic kicked off its sixth consecutive sellout event Monday, with participants from around the nation taking part in a four-day competition that offers particular appeal to visitors whose home golf seasons have already ended.
The 2019 event includes:
428 players (214 two-person teams)
Players from 36 states and Ontario, with entries from outside the Carolinas led by Virginia (44), Ohio (28), Pennsylvania (27), Florida (22), Georgia (16) and Massachusetts (14)
Eight flights of competition, grouped by team handicap index: Johnson (< 13.4), Koepka (13.5 – 16.5), Rose (16.6 – 18.6), McIlroy (18.7 – 21.7), Spieth (21.8 – 24.8), Thomas (24.9 – 28.4), Fowler (28.5 – 33.3), Woods (33.8 – 62.8)
Divisions featuring Ladies (27 entries), Men’s (177 entries), Senior (200 entries) and Super Senior (24 entries) entrants
Today’s first round and Wednesday’s third round will be contested in a best ball format, with Tuesday’s round played as a Texas scramble and Thursday’s final round in a modified alternate shot format. Tuesday through Thursday’s rounds are forecast to be greeted with ideal playing conditions: mostly sunny skies, and temperatures reaching the lower 60s.
