Myrtle Beach Golf Hole of the Week: Legends Parkland No. 11

May 15, 2017

The 11th hole on the Parkland Course is the Myrtle Beach golf hole of the weekWhile Heathland and Moorland feature the large greens, mounding and pot bunkers people associate with golf in Scotland, Parkland, as the name suggests, is a more traditional, American-style design. The layout features tree-lined fairways and tighter landing areas, providing Legends a course with a contrasting experience.

On a layout known for its challenge, our Myrtle Beach Golf Hole of Week offers chance to score.

No. 11
Par:
5
Yardage: 509 yards (blue tees); 463 yards (white tees); 445 yards (greens tees); 394 yards (red tees).
Handicap: 17

The 11th hole at Parkland provides golfers the opportunity to jump-start their back nine. The course is long at 6,516 yards from the white tees, but No. 11 is a short par 5, playing just 463 yards from the most commonly played tees.

The directive is simple: take advantage of this dogleg left. Long hitters will have the opportunity to go for the green in two, but with water running up to the front of the putting surface, it will be all carry.

There is sand on the right side of the fairway and mounds framing the left, but given the relative lack of length, even a drive that goes slightly astray should leave you positioned to get on the green in regulation.

Success on the 11th hole will be defined by your second and third shots. Even if you don’t try to reach the green (and most won’t), the second shot will determine the length of your approach. The only potential disaster is dumping the ball the in the water, making your third shot vital.

But you aren’t thinking about disaster, you want to make birdie, so hit the small green in the proper spot and make your 4.
