Hot List: The Grand Strand’s Top 5 Late-Night Restaurants

February 20, 2012

Try Sams Corner Hot Dogs for late night snacks and drinks in Myrtle BeachTaking a Myrtle Beach golf trip involves making the most of your time, and that includes the occasional late night meal.

Whether your flight arrives or departs at odd hours or you are an early bird or night owl on the prowl for food, there are plenty of places where you can chow down at all hours of the night. Here are my top 5:

5. The Huddle House in North Myrtle Beach’s motto says it all: Any Meal, Any Time. The place is best known for its breakfast, but serves three squares all day. So if you want breakfast for dinner, dinner for breakfast or you get the munchies in the middle of the night, the Huddle House is ready to make your taste buds happy 24/7.

4. Lulu’s Café lights up the Ocean Boulevard strip with pink neon signs and creative dishes offered 24/7. This retro-‘50s diner features comfort food with a modern twist. The menu is huge and includes the basics (traditional breakfasts and lunches) along with such souped-up cousins as a Philly cheese steak scrambler and fried bologna sandwiches. The eatery stays open 24 hours for most of the year.

3. Let’s say you get hungry late at night after 36 holes on your favorite Myrtle Beach golf course but don’t want to drive to the nearest eatery. Pizza Shak has got you covered. With several locations on the Grand Strand, Pizza Shak delivers till 4 a.m. And the menu features much more than pizza. They have sandwiches, pasta dishes, salads – just about anything your cravings call for no matter when you call.

2. Not to be confused with its cousin, the Huddle House, the Waffle House is an institution for late-night eaters. This short-order grill offers breakfast, lunch and dinner around the clock and it’s always hot and made to order. The best news is there are three locations in the Myrtle Beach area so there’s always one near you. Roll down your car windows and you can follow your nose to the hash browns.

1. The top place among night owls on the Grand Strand is Sam’s Corner, which not only serves food 24 hours a day but also alcohol. Featuring beer on tap and a mini-bar, a Myrtle Beach golf group can have a drink before or with their meals. Although famous for their hot dogs, this place does all three meals well. The breakfast food is right on target, and the Ocean Burger is popular among regular visitors. Also a great place to people watch.
