Two of the Myrtle Beach area’s elite designs, The Dunes Golf & Beach Club and Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, maintained their status as among “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” for 2021-2022 as named by Golf Digest, which also honored these mainstays and The Dye Course at Barefoot Resort, True Blue Golf Club and TPC Myrtle Beach as among “The Best Golf Courses in South Carolina.”
Robert Trent Jones’ masterpiece at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club checks into the national ranking at No. 64, adding yet another chapter to its longstanding history of excellence as among the nation’s top public access venues. It is the former site of numerous PGA TOUR and senior tour championships, and to this day hosts a wide range of prominent USGA, women’s, amateur, national, collegiate and state events.
Mike Strantz’s critically acclaimed design at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club ranks 85th in the nation by Golf Digest, and was the first solo design in the short, brilliant career of “The Maverick.” Strantz’s architectural genius extends to Caledonia’s sister course in Pawleys Island at True Blue Golf Club. Along with The Dunes Club in maintaining its high stature in yet another national ranking, Caledonia exudes a Lowcountry beauty and charm that is unmatched along the Grand Strand golf scene.
