Myrtle Beach is famously home to several of South Carolina’s most prominent resorts – Barefoot and Legends come immediately to mind – but the area is also home to a trio of multi-course properties that deliver a memorable, even if under the radar, experience.

If your group likes to play more than one round at a single site, here are three resorts your group will want to explore.

Under new ownership, Sea Trail Resort, a 54-hole property that is home to the Jones, Byrd and Maples courses, is in the midst of a transformative renovation. In the summer of 2024, the Byrd Course received a multi-million-dollar renovation highlighted by the installation of TifEagle Bermuda grass greens, new bunkers and strategic tree removal, among other enhancements.

In addition to acclaimed architect Tim Cate’s work on the course, Sea Trail also renovated the Jones/Byrd clubhouse, which now includes Sunset Prime, one of Brunswick County’s premier restaurants. The Jones and Maples layouts will be renovated as well, and both courses continue to provide a memorable golf vacation experience in the interim.

With accommodations on site, golfers can enjoy the complete stay-and-play experience at Sea Trail.

Just up the road, the Big Cats at Ocean Ridge Plantation continue to make golfers purr. While Tiger’s Eye and Leopard’s Chase attract much of the attention, Lion’s Paw and Panther’s Run, the first two cats in the litter, offer good times and great value.

The original Big Cat, Lion’s Paw is renowned for the quality of its par 3s, highlighted by the 178-yard third hole. Panther’s Run was Cate’s first solo design, and it stamped him as one of the region’s rising architects. Playing through a nature preserve, Panther’s Run is a combination of challenge and beauty.

A 27-hole property, Brunswick Golf Club provides another stay-and-play option. Brunswick is home to the Magnolia, Dogwood and Azalea nines, with each delivering a different but equally memorable experience. Combine golf with onsite condo accommodations, and it doesn’t take players long to understand Brunswick’s continuing popularity.

As you make plans for your next golf trip, these three Brunswick County resorts might be the ideal home for your group.
