With hundreds of votes cast since last week, the Myrtle Beach vacation golfers have spoken. In a tight race, Mike Strantz has edged out Dan Maples as the leading vote-getter among your choices of Myrtle Beach’s most impactful golf course designers.
Each of the Grand Strand’s multicourse designers was listed in this poll in descending order based on course volume in the market. With 141 votes, Strantz’s notable work at two of America’s top 100 public designs (Caledonia and True Blue) came in just ahead that of Dan Maples (134 votes), whose work includes eight signature layouts in “The Golf Capital of the World.” Pete and P.B. Dye (83 votes), with three designs showcased in the Myrtle Beach area, finished third.
