Set in the quiet Ocean Forest residential neighborhood, Island Vista is truly like staying on an island, because of the absence of oceanfront development in either direction. Guests feel like they have the beach to themselves on a Myrtle Beach golf trip.
After undergoing recent renovations that upgraded the hotel to luxury resort status, Island Vista offers excellent accommodations for parties of any size. Large indoor/outdoor pools, hot tubs, a lazy river and an exercise room give guests the choice of spending their spare time at the resort, especially with the upscale Cypress Room, an on-site restaurant.
But for those looking to get away for awhile, there are plenty of things to do and see within easy reach of the hotel:
* Golf: Island Vista is just a short distance from the first Myrtle Beach golf course – Pine Lakes Country Club. Opened in 1927, but recently renovated, this Robert White layout offers a great round of golf and an even better experience. Scottish kilt-clad staff members serve clam chowder and mimosas on the course.
* Dining: Just a short stroll down Sunset Drive takes guests from a peaceful setting to a thriving business district that features several diverse restaurant options like Luigi's (Italian), Bamboo Cafe (Chinese), Grecia Corner (Mediterranean) and Jimmyz Hibachi (Asian).
* Attractions: Seeing the town will require moving the car or a cab ride, but there are plenty of fun things to do without a high fare. Broadway at the Beach, the area’s most popular entertainment and shopping complex, is only a couple of miles away, and the new Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, located in the heart of downtown, is a short drive down Ocean Boulevard.
* Nightlife: There are several small neighborhood bars in the area, including Jimmigans and Foster's located two blocks away on North Kings Highway. A little bit farther south is Bourbon Street Bar & Grill, which features live music six nights a week and has quickly become one of the hottest spots on the Strand. The Island Vista Tiki Bar is open seasonally.
