The top North Myrtle Beach golf courses enjoy a prime location and some of the area’s best layouts.
With that in mind here a look at the top North Myrtle Beach golf courses, which include four layouts (Dye, Fazio, Love and Tidewater) that have been ranked among America’s Top 100 by either Golf Digest or Golf Magazine:
Azalea Sands: With no homes, condos or backyards on the course, Azalea Sands prides itself on a player-friendly reputation and pace of play. The course has undergone renovations and enjoyed a general improvement in conditions over the last year two years, restoring the layout to its place among the area’s top value courses.
Beachwood Golf Club: Beachwood has offered players of all skill levels some of the most challenging — and fun — golf in the area. Beachwood is set on 180 tractable acres of lakes, Carolina pines and floral displays, including azaleas and crepe myrtles.
Dye Course at Barefoot Resort: The host of the Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am, the Dye course is as challenging as it is visually stunning. The course has the railroad ties, waste bunkers and mounding that architect Pete Dye is known for.
Fazio Course at Barefoot Resort: The debate over which of Barefoot’s courses is the best could rage long into the night, but Fazio has more than its share of supporters. The layout features more than 90 bunkers and water on 16 of 18 holes, giving players plenty to look at it.
Love Course at Barefoot Resort : Davis Love’s first big-time design has proven to be a critical and popular success. The Love Course is unique, visually striking and fun to play. Highlighted by the faux ruins of an old plantation home, the course is one of the area’s most popular.
Norman Course at Barefoot Resort: A unique design, the Norman Course has only 60 acres of mowable grass existing on all 18 holes. Norman uses tactical landscaping and the site’s natural vegetation to frame each hole. The course also features several holes along the scenic Intracoastal Waterway, providing memorable views.
Possum Trot: Possum Trot oozes Southern hospitality. Noted for its excellent playing conditions, the course has wide fairways and is one of the area’s most playable layouts.
Tidewater Golf Club: Located between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Cherry Grove inlet, Tidewater offers the perfect combination of natural beauty and architectural challenge. Following the natural contours of the land, the Waterway, marsh and ocean bring spectacular views throughout the round at Tidewater.
